2014 Leadership Event – London

ODCA Hosts a Leadership Event and Reception in Collaboration with Cloud World Forum

The Alliance’s second Leadership Event in 2014 is promising to be one of the best ones yet! With an engaging agenda of best practices and technical sessions, as well as offering a great opportunity for the European IT community to learn about the ODCA and how our organization has been supporting cloud adoption through the publication of end-user driven requirements; this is an event that you cannot miss.

The Alliance kickoffs one more Leadership Event with an evening reception on June 17 at London’s Olympia Hall where Cloud World Forum’s attendees and ODCA members will have a chance to meet with the ODCA’s leadership, engage with like-minded peers, and receive complimentary passes to ODCA’s marquee event, Forecast 2014.

On June 18, the Alliance continues the engagement by hosting a one-day Leadership Event in co-location with Cloud World Forum. Join us for a keynote presentation by Correy Voo, ODCA President; Infrastructure CTO, UBS covering UBS adoption strategy based on ODCA’s requirements, and stay the rest of the day with us as we present technical sessions covering Security in the Big Data, Cloud Aware Applications, and Business Strategies Enabled by Cloud.

This event, open to Cloud World Forum attendees and ODCA members, is ideal for senior Enterprise IT professionals that desire to understand how ODCA members like BMW, T-Systems, and UBS are deploying cloud today, how ODCA has helped shape corporate strategies for cloud deployments, and how enterprises are using ODCA usage models as the foundation for deploying a variety of virtualized enterprise cloud services.

If you have not yet registered for Cloud World Forum but would like to attend this leadership event, please register directly at http://cloudwf.com.

Business Strategy Enabled by Cloud.
Business evolution and market opportunities and pressures are resulting in ever-greater adoption of Cloud Services for various reasons and against various expectations. Typically these Cloud based services are expected to enable the achievement of Business Objectives, and it is therefore valuable to create a strategy where this journey is mapped, and the cloud adoption is planned, somewhat pro-actively, aligned to Business Objectives.

This session (lead by Ryan Skipp, Co-Chair of the ODCA Business Transformation Workgroup) provides an overview of the new ODCA Business Strategy enabled by Cloud Services Usage Model (UM). This usage model identifies many of the key non-technology related aspects and enablers for Cloud which should be addressed within an organisation. It also addresses some of the methods and frameworks for cloud adoption, and identifies some of the key challenges to steer through during the journey.

Security of Big Data.
Everyone knows that there are risks associated with moving enterprise data to a Cloud and everyone knows the enormous potential that the analytics of Big Data can bring especially when using the Cloud. But what happens when these two converge?

This presentation, lead by Ian Lamont, IT Security Specialist BMW and ODCA Co-Chair, Security Workgroup, will discuss some of the security and privacy challenges associated with Big Data in the Cloud and will present a number of key initiatives that the ODCA have done to support enterprises that wish to take this step.

Cloud – Aware Applications.
ELeveraging the unique benefits of the cloud requires a specialized approach to application architecture. The right design enables business agility, massive scaling, ability to burst, and high resiliency. Plus, it promotes resource efficiency and can minimize costs. The lack of cloud-aware applications hinders innovative hybrid cloud usages.

If you are involved in providing applications or services in the cloud, attend this session to learn the principles of cloud-aware application design and to explore emerging architectural patterns which maximize cloud advantages. This session will be presented by Catherine Spence, ODCA technical committee chair and Intel IT Principal Engineer.

Catherine Spence, Chair, Technical Coordination Committee; IT Principal Engineer, Intel.
