Webinar: VM Interoperability Between Different Hypervisors and Public Cloud @ ODCA BrightTALK Channel
Oct 18 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Webinar Description

Three years ago, the ODCA looked at how difficult it would be to demonstrate virtual machine interoperability and found that interoperability was at best in its early stages.

A new ODCA team recently revisited that question, and additionally looked at how easy it would be to move a VM between a hypervisor in an enterprise and a public cloud. This presentation talks about the findings of that study, which also will be published in an ODCA white paper.

DatacenterDynamics Europe ZettaStructure @ Old Billingsgate Market
Nov 1 @ 8:00 am – Nov 2 @ 6:00 pm

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Building the ZettaStructure’; the collective name we are giving the physical layer of hardware, facilities and networks that extend beyond the walls of the traditional data center environment and that together form the foundation of the digital economy.

Restricted to 2,000 invited guests who represent the top decision makers from companies that run data center-scale infrastructure – a scale that even if completely outsourced to the cloud still requires highly evolved IT operations – the conference sets out to explore the ‘borderlands’ between physical infrastructure and the Software-Defined Data Center. The event format has been updated to include morning plenaries featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, followed by pre-lunch seminars, whilst the afternoon gives way to an entirely new format of ‘big discussions’ that will tap the minds of the leaders within the sector.

The Triple A Datacenter: Available, Agile, and Aligned

Strong commercial forces, coupled with rapid technological changes, are putting more pressure than ever on owners and operators to design and run their datacenters to the highest standards. If they don’t, there could be dire commercial consequences, or workloads could be moved across the cloud to a different venue. Datacenters must be designed to optimize uptime with the help of the best technology and thoroughly applied processes. But that is not enough: they must also be agile – able to adapt if the workloads, competitive environment or technologies change, and every datacenter needs to be efficient – appropriately designed, resourced and optimized for the customer’s needs at any point, and aligned to the business environment and the appropriate workloads and applications.

At this industry-leading one-day Datacenter Summit, experienced datacenter owners, operators and managers will share their thoughts with 451 Research’s top datacenter and cloud analysts, joined by the leadership and members of the Uptime Institute. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss:

  • Current and emerging best practices
  • The impact of cloud on connectivity, scale and automation
  • Design and process changes
  • Latest and emerging technologies shaping datacenters
Interactive Work Shop: Hybrid IT Transformation Planning
Nov 8 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Webinar Description

The cloud represents a powerful new paradigm in computing—one that enables highly scalable applications and services to be accessed over the Internet on an as-needed basis, — one that has significantly changed how IT is built, delivered and operated.

No longer is IT contained within the four walls of a company, now it is a combination of internal and external applications integrated into one Hybrid IT model. This new Hybrid IT model supports a new style of business and the democratization of IT. In a democratized IT model, anyone can create IT services. IT no longer needs to be involved in every application development exercise, now business units are able to build and provision their own IT systems using SasS and public cloud services.

This change to a Hybrid IT model requires both business and IT to rethink how application ecosystems are designed, constructed, delivered, and managed, and where application workloads should reside. .

During this seminar William Dupley, HPE Canada’s Cloud Chief Technologist will examine:

  • The digital economy: realities and challenges
  • Hewlett Packard Enterprise perspective on Hybrid IT
  • Hybrid IT Architecture
    • what does the future state look like?
    • what are the business benefits?
  • Describe the five domains of Hybrid IT
    • Hybrid Infrastructure
    • Hybrid Delivery
    • Hybrid App Architecture/Workloads
    • Hybrid DevOps
    • Hybrid Service Management
  • Outline the steps to a successful transformation to a Hybrid IT Operating Model using the ODCA Cloud Maturity Model

Interactive Work Shop: Begin Your CMM Assessment, Hybrid IT Roadmap
Nov 15 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Webinar Description

In addition to the Cloud Maturity Model (CMM), the ODCA team have extensively rebuilt a practical process and the supporting analysis tooling to guide use of the CMM, and to guide organisations by defining actions to achieve effective Hybrid IT. This is through an increased cloud maturity level based on the increased business benefits that the increased levels of capability achievement should offer. This session will explore the capability areas, and the tooling (and resulting artefacts) leading between the various CMM levels. It will also reach into practical assessment considerations and review a resulting example Hybrid IT Roadmap.
