Service Orchestration
In the Service Orchestration session we will consider the most important factors and elements necessary for consumers to sustainably invoke cloud services from a cloud provider, and to then run those services. These touch on responsibilities of the consumer, the provider, and how those can be affected by a Service Burst or Migration. The session also touches on what the consumer should already have in place, to set up a relationship with a provider, with an eye on sustainability. We address the Service Catalogue for cloud services, and the process for adopting those services into your operational environment. This interactive session should arm you with a number of important factors to consider in your adoption of cloud-based services.

Room: California East, 2nd Floor

Presenter:
Catherine Spence, Enterprise Architect, Intel Corporation
Ryan Skipp, DTAG/T-Systems Portfolio & Solution Development; Chair, Manageability & Services Workgroup, Open Data Center Alliance

Security Assurance and Monitoring
Security Assurance looks at how the ODCA propose that cloud providers deliver transparency into the way in which they secure the assets of their customers, and also provides mechanisms for cloud subscribers to ensure that providers meet their security requirements. The presentation will briefly describe the proposed Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels for security and will offer the attendees an opportunity to question two of the original authors of this Usage Model.

Room: California West, 2nd Floor

Workload Migration and VM Interoperability
In this session we will investigate the key factors to consider when wanting to take advantage of some of the Virtual Machine Interoperability Use Cases – e.g. Bursting workloads to incorporate additional cloud capacity, moving workloads or complete systems between cloud platforms and locations, and some of the important standards which enable this. These considerations range between Technology, Process, and Governance layers. This interactive session should give you insight into the most important aspects to build into are ensure are prevalent in your cloud service.

Interoperability Between Clouds
As organizations are consuming SaaS, PaaS and IaaS in public and private clouds, it is becoming increasingly important to be able to deploy, migrate and interconnect the systems to achieve agility and to avoid lock-in. To address these needs, the ODCA has developed a series of Usage Models on interoperability, starting with the Guide to Interoperability Across Clouds. This session will discuss what we mean by interoperability, introduce the usage scenarios, and indicate the key requirements for all three service models.

Room: California East, 2nd Floor

Presenter:
Catherine Spence, Enterprise Architect, Intel Corporation
Pankaj Fichadia, Risk Partner, Technology, National Australia Bank

Security Data Protection
Security is the biggest challenge that organizations face when they look to adopt cloud services. With greater adoption of public cloud services, more data will be sent out of an organization’s environment. Since the average organization cost of a data breach is well over $7 million USD, it is becoming increasingly more important to ensure security data protection. In fact, it is critical to the ongoing success of cloud services. This session will explore security data protection including the elements of the cloud data life cycle, and what security controls should be overlaid in each stage of data use. We will introduce the ODCA Data Security Usage Model as well as touch on the ODCA Provider Assurance Usage Model.

Panel: Software Defined Data Centers
We are entering an era where business and technology operating models have the opportunity to seamlessly align to enable fast, flexible response to rapidly changing competitive landscapes. Much of the work has been done to virtualize the data center components - CPU, storage, network, OS and apps, but this has resulted in islands or silos of vendor-specific virtualized infrastructure. Now, increasingly heterogeneous virtualized elements can be combined and aggregated into logical resources with Software Defined Datacenters. Viewing business functions and technology as re-configurable blocks will require a radical departure from the legacy IT infrastructures and application portfolios found inside most organizations today. This session explores the evolution in business model and technology architectures required to deliver the Enterprise as a Service.

Panel: Business Transformation for Enterprise IT
The IT Organization in 2016: We are beginning a time of great change for how companies think about sourcing and managing their IT capability, and the role of IT organizations in buying, configuring, managing, and securing this capability. The next 3-5 years will be marked by IT orgs assessing what they are good at and can do internally, which part of their portfolio it might deliver differently, which public cloud assets they will use, and how to best combine and manage it all. Any efforts in these directions will be short-lived without a reassessment of IT's role: does/will it diminish the role of the CIO, particularly if IT decision-making and budgeting move further into the business, or does the IT org's role become ever-more critical as the business' service integration broker for commercial services, the technical broker for process and data integration? Does the CIO become the new data czar? Does the CIO become an 80% sourcer/manager/guarantor of external services and a 20% builder of internal bespoke assets? This session explores key considerations in figuring out the "before and after" of transformation in enterprise IT organizations.
